Stream Configuration
Stream Configuration
The Input Pairing tab is where you connect your DVOX hardware (controllers) and audio inputs to the streams guests will listen to.
Overview
For each stream you created, you must:
- Select the DVOX Controller (which hardware unit)
- Select the Input Number (which audio input: left, right, or mono)
This tells DVOX which audio source feeds into each guest-facing stream.
Step 1: Click the Input Pairing Tab
- Go to the Input Pairing tab in the Event Manager
- You’ll see your event’s stream groups and streams
- Each stream has a configuration button on its right side
Step 2: Configure Each Stream
For each stream, follow these steps:
Click the Stream Configuration Button
Click the button to the right of your selected stream (in the preview interface on the left).
Step 3: Select DVOX Controller
- Click the DVOX Controller Browse button
- A list of available controllers appears
- Find your desired unit in the list
- The unit’s serial number or custom name will be displayed
ℹ️
You'll find your controller serial number on the device label at the back of your DVOX unit. If the controller has a custom name (renamed in the Controllers section), it will display that name instead.
Step 4: Select Input Number
- Click the Input Number Browse button
- Select your desired audio input:
- Left — Left channel (typical for mono audio or main feed)
- Right — Right channel (less common)
The DVOX STEREO unit has two audio inputs:
- AUDIO IN 1 — Usually left channel
- AUDIO IN 2 — Usually right channel
💡
Most venues use the left input for their primary audio feed. Use the right input only if you have stereo separation or multiple independent audio sources.
Step 5: Save Changes
Click the Save Changes button to apply this configuration.
Complete Configuration Example
Scenario: Multi-room venue with 3 streams
| Stream | Controller | Input | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main Hall | STEREO-001 | Left | Primary audio from main PA |
| Overflow Room | STEREO-002 | Left | Secondary audio from overflow area |
| VIP Lounge | STEREO-001 | Right | Ambient/background music |
Assigning Multiple Streams to One Controller
You can use the same controller for multiple streams by selecting different inputs:
- Stream 1 → Controller A → Left Input
- Stream 2 → Controller A → Right Input
- Stream 3 → Controller B → Left Input
This is useful for:
- Using stereo inputs separately
- Multiple audio programs from one venue location
- Testing without additional hardware
Reassigning Streams
To change a stream’s controller or input:
- Click the stream’s configuration button again
- Select a different controller or input
- Click Save Changes
- The change takes effect immediately
Testing Your Configuration
Before going live:
- Verify Audio Flow — Check that audio is being captured by each controller
- Test Each Stream — Listen through dvox.live to confirm all streams work
- Check Levels — Ensure audio levels are appropriate (not too loud or quiet)
Troubleshooting
⚠️
**Stream Has No Audio?**
1. Verify the controller is showing ONLINE in the Controllers section
2. Confirm the XLR cables are properly connected to the DVOX unit
3. Check that audio is being fed to the selected input (left vs. right)
4. Verify the audio source volume is adequate (input is controlled at source, not on device)
5. Try selecting a different input to test
**Controller Not in List?**
1. The controller may not be assigned to your account
2. The controller may be offline (check Controllers section)
3. Ensure the controller is properly whitelisted on the network
Important Notes
- Each stream must have a controller and input assigned
- The same controller can be used for multiple streams (with different inputs)
- Controllers must be ONLINE to be available
- Audio configuration happens at the source (mixer/PA system) — DVOX inputs are at 0 gain
Next Steps
- Test your stream audio before the event
- Set event visibility and go live
- Share the event URL with guests
